PANAY CATHOLIC CHARISMATIC RENEWAL MOVEMENT

The Charismatic Renewal Movement Panay, Capiz (1983)
In 1983, through ligaya ng Panginoon, Manila, introduced by Sis. Donna Umiten and Zita Borromeo. The first, to avail the renewal movement where Bro. Joe Acevedo, Bro. Luis Ortiz, Bro. Petin Yotuko, Sis Thelma Martinez, etc.



Bro. John Billanes were the first lay coordinator of “Panong ni Kristo” renewal movement and the next to him was Bro. Fred Bigcas.

To the movement it was a great profession from the year 1983 up to the 1988 however in 1989 some of their coupled members created the Couples for Christ movement which is also affiliated to Charismatic renewal movement resulted to regression of the population. But, through the grace of God to Bro. Badoy and Sis. Beauty Billoso the movement was revived and Sis. Maria Barrio stood as the lay coordinator. Since then the movement grows. There is no permanent place to worship, the prayer meeting was held at Day Care Center, sometimes at the house of a member, at rural bank of Panay, CLRANHS and even done under the tree. So, then come a time that the movement decide to build a temporary prayer house beside the church and it lasted for years. Since the church need the site the movement has no choice but to vacate the place. They asked permission to Msgr. Romualdo Azarcon, a palce where to build a prayer house and he gave the site presently located at the Santa Monica Parochial School the building was constructed under the leadership of Larry Buenvenida who is the lay coordinator up to present through daigon, solicitation, donation and contribution of the generous people whom their hearts were touched by the Holy Spirit and the prayer house was materialized.



Presently, they hold all the activities such as CLSS seminar, Pentecostest, elder’s meeting, prayer meeting, Lord’s day, retreat, and Christmas party. The prayer group has an expansion in Bato, Tanza Crossing headed by Bro. Cleto Nobleta had a separate prayer meeting but every last Sunday of the month, the group joined. So far, from 1983 up to present the group has suffering trials, tribulation, problems encountered but still by the Grace of God and through the guidance of the Holy Spirit the movement still arises and fighting for the good faith.



Mentioning some of the priest who became the spiritual director of the Charismatic movement are: Msgr. Romualdo Azarcon, Fr. Jaime Abao, Fr. Neil Olano, Fr. Poy Villanueva, Fr. Redan Apines, and presently Fr. Alba with the permission and blessing of Msgr. Ben Advincula.
